Corporate Social Responsibility
Ereto Mara Paradise camp is a social enterprise and a non-profit with a dedicated social role of leading and being a voice to the elimination of harmful practices such as Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), child marriages, and gender-based violence (GBV) in the Maasai community in Kenya. Ereto Mara Paradise Camp, located in Masai Mara National Reserve, offers the best budget friendly camping of high quality accommodation in African traditional and cultural style. This is a sustainability strategy to ensure long-term projects and the utilization of the proceeds of the camp are pumped back to the community to ensure transformational shift in social norms with the elimination of FGM and child marriage in the Maasai community in Kenya.
- Female Genital Mutilation (FGM):
With severe health consequences and rights violations, FGM, is a harmful rite of passage that leads to lifelong physical and psychological trauma - Early Child Marriages:
Early child marriages cut short girls' education and expose them to significant health risks from early pregnancies consequently leading to Education Denied and Health Jeopardized - Gender-Based Violence (GBV):
Entrenched harmful cultural norms and violence can lead to GBV, fueled by deeply rooted cultural beliefs that perpetuates cycles of violence against women and girls and children. - Socio-Economic Factors:
Economic hardships in pastoralist communities often lead families to prioritize livestock over their daughters’ education, viewing early marriage as a financial solution.
Ereto Mara Paradise Camp runs a rescue center in Narok town which serves as a safe house for rescued girls from FGM and child marriage. This center supports the girls with food and personal effects as well as vocational training skills.
We donate food items and cattle to rear to Widows’ self-groups from Naisuya, Nkoilale, Sekenani, Empopongi and Kishermoruak areas of NarokNorth and West. We are working to empower them to be self-sustainable through projects like livestock keeping, beadwork, sponsorship for their children among other forms of aid.
